AUTHOR OF MY SORROWS I called your telephone Nothing but the dial tone I guess you weren’t at home Tried again and felt so alone We don’t know who we are anymore Time heals wounds but wounds scar That’s for sure I saw you in my dreams, you looked away Someone behind the scenes Wrote us this way I saw you touch his face His car outside your place I guess he’s more your taste I see I’ve been replaced We don’t know who we are anymore Time heals wounds but wounds scar That’s for sure I saw you in my dreams, you looked away Someone behind the scenes Wrote us this way Watching movies in the dark You’d hate the scary parts Well I guess you still get scared But someone else’s hand is there We don’t know who we are anymore Time heals wounds but wounds scar That’s for sure I saw you in my dreams, you looked away Someone behind the scenes Wrote us this way

IT’LL ALL COME DOWN The clouds are looming So heavy overhead It’s been that way now for some time The clouds brought darkness And shadow shrouds us all You know it’s been that way now for some time Streetlights stay on Every hour, day and night You know it’s been that way now for some time No birds are singing No pets will go outside It’s been that way now It’s been that way now But soon it’ll all come down The silent knowledge That hard rain’s gonna fall You know it’s been that way now for some time The streets sit quiet The air is oh so still It’s been that way now for some time We all stopped talking Frightened of what we might say You know it’s been that way now for some time We sit at windows Expectant and afraid It’s been that way now It’s been that way now And soon it’ll all come down

I DRINK BECAUSE I LIKE IT I drink because I like it And because somewhere along the way It became the only thing that made me feel The way I want to feel I drink because I like it And because when I hang out with my friends It makes me the me that they all want to see Don’t know how else to be I drink because I like it And because I hate my fucking job And in the evenings what else is there left to do? It’s either that or watch TV I drink because I like it And because it’s just what people do We’re too scared to interact without our drugs It’s how all our parents met I drink because I like it And because my inhibitions go And I can dance the way they dance on my TV Just like John Travolta I drink because I like it And because the drinks in here are cheap And the music is too loud to really talk If you can call it music? I drink because I like it And because I’ve never questioned why I’ll just drink until I cannot drink no more What am I drinking for? I drink because I like it And because it helps me to forget And takes away the pain of the mundane Until I wake for work again I drink because I like it And because there’s no other way to score And I’d rather buy a pint than buy a whore Although I miss erections I drink because I like it And because there’s fuck all else to do When your life is meaningless and alien When you need a drink just to get a friend When you need a drink because it never ends When you need a drink to clear your drowning mind When you need a drink to finally unwind When you need a drink to escape from yourself When you need a drink because there’s nothing else I drink because I like it Oh yes I really like it I think I really like it? I drink because I like it

AS SENSELESS AS IT SEEMS another corpse is hidden underneath a flag another first born child is dead another bomb explodes deep within Iraq another innocent has bled another speech is made with words that mask the facts another lie is being told another soldier doesn’t think before they act another genocide is sold and it cannot be as senseless as it seems but it is another target rich environment destroyed another language leaves us cold another way of saying that we did not avoid another murder of our soul another carnage with more bloodshed left in store another crime becomes a trend another victory leaves room for one more war another fight without an end The picture sickens yet I cannot look away A loving family turned to corpses the next day The bodies keep on rolling in and yet still we send out more No one can ever win an never-ending war and it cannot be as senseless as it seems but it is as senseless as it seems

You'll have to listen to these ones - I lost the file!

ONE EVENING OF TEARS I shouldn’t have said the things I said last night I didn’t want to get into a fight I shouldn’t have been so determined to prove that I was right at our expense Whoever wins, we lose I shouldn’t have jumped straight to my defense With blinkered hearing and a dose of arrogance Justifying without justification at our expense Whoever wins, we lose And I don’t want to lose you baby I love you with all my heart God knows I need you baby, and you need me Whatever the problem babe We’ll solve it however we can Our love is stronger than One evening of tears I shouldn’t have lashed out instead of listening Valid points ignored whilst my ego took a swing A foot in my mouth and a finger in my ears at our expense Whoever wins, we lose I shouldn’t have blamed you when you were not to blame I shouldn’t have forgotten that our motives are the same I shouldn’t have been so eager for petty victory at our expense Whoever wins, we lose And I don’t want to lose you baby I love you with all my heart God knows I need you baby, and you need me Whatever the problem babe We’ll solve it however we can Our love is stronger than One evening of tears It’s funny how easy it is to throw it all away (but I’m not laughing)

GLAD TO MISS YOU The start of something new But I’m not there with you I wish that I knew then what I know now Three-thousand miles away The distance is so great I wish that I knew then what I know now But if I could go away from you and just not give a damn Sure it wouldn’t hurt so much but you must understand The fact that it hurts makes it real These feelings that we feel The pain in our hearts seals the deal And I’m so glad that I have you to miss today I want to be with you It’s simple but it’s true I wish that I knew then what I know now Plans made in darker times Forced us to say goodbye I wish that I knew then what I know now But if I could say goodbye to you and just not give a damn Sure it wouldn’t hurt so much but you must understand The fact that it hurts makes it real These feelings that we feel The pain in our hearts seals the deal And I’m so glad that I have you to miss today I know I’m far away But it’ll be ok In just a few more days I’ll be with you I know right now I’m gone But it won’t be for long Please baby just hold on These last few days… The start of something new So glad that I miss you And glad that I know now what I know now I’m counting down the days ‘til I see you again And glad that I know now what I know now Because if I could leave you far behind and just not give a damn Sure it wouldn’t hurt so much but you must understand The fact that it hurts makes it real These feelings that we feel The pain in our hearts seals the deal And I’m so glad that I have you to miss today I’m so glad That I have you I’m so glad that I have you to miss today

about

This is an album of solo tracks I recorded between 2006 and 2007; just me and a bass guitar in a studio. My band had broken up and I decided I would just continue playing songs anyway, just as I wrote them: me and my bass. I played quite a few open mics like this, confusing audiences all over Cardiff, Cambridge, London and the Midlands with my one man and his bass act. I still play this way at home every week. These songs are less political than my usual fayre, and far more personal - hence the title "...Will Make You Weep." I was getting emotional for a change.

As I played "Author of My Sorrows" in my study the other evening, I suddenly realised that these odd little songs could now find a home over on Bandcamp - finally free to the public for those who want to hear them.

Enjoy!
